Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 29th Regional Congress of the Perinatal Society of Malaysia. This annual congress has always been an important event in the calendar of the Perinatal Healthcare provider. And this year is ‘extra’ special as it is the first physical meet after the Pandemic. In the interest of ensuring maximum participation, the organizing committee chose Putrajaya as the venue due to its central location.

The theme of this year’s congress is ‘Strengthening Perinatal Care: Back to Basics’ This is in line with the post Pandemic efforts to get the health services back on track. The scientific committee has taken great efforts to ensure a balanced programme based on the Congress theme. The first day focuses on Nutrition which is one of the basic aspects of good perinatal care. Topics of the symposium have been arranged to cover both the mother and the child. Similarly, the second and third day comprehensively covers other basic issues to strengthen perinatal care in the post Pandemic era. Many prominent speakers have been invited to be part of the Congress faculty. It is hoped that in addition to enjoying their lectures, the participants will use this opportunity to interact with the speakers.

One of highlights of this year’s congress is a Forum on Medicolegal issues related to perinatal care. The forum is designed to highlight litigation issues related to perinatal care and its avoidance.

The ‘regulars’ who attend this Congress will notice the merging of the shortened Opening Ceremony and the Gala Dinner. However, rest assured the Gala Dinner will remain Grand. As usual it will continue to have all its elements which include picking out the best dressed and the table games. Hope you will let down your hair and enjoy the evening. You may even win the Grand Prize during the lucky draw.
Finally, I hope that the academic feast of this Congress will enrich your knowledge and in turn reflect better perinatal care when you return to your workplace.
Thank you for attending this Congress and hope you have a great time and take home some good memories.
