He specializes in clinical trials in antenatal and intrapartum care and is passionate about developing mid career researchers. His research interests include interventions to predict and prevent preterm birth, pre-eclampsia, global health and the use of blood pressure monitoring. He has published over 600 peer reviewed research reports (H index >70). He currently leads two NIHR Global Health Research Groups, based in Africa, India and South America.
He has an active clinical role in managing high risk obstetric patients, including a regular hands-on labour ward commitment, and a multi-awarded winning specialist preterm birth surveillance clinic that accepts national and international referrals. He was the inaugural recipient of the International Newton Prize for excellence in research and innovation in support of economic development and social welfare in low and middle-income countries. He was awarded an OBE for services to maternity care.

She is a key member of the neonatal ASUM committee teaching advanced neonatal cardiac, lung, and cranial ultrasound, responsible for training and governance within Australia. She has led lung ultrasound workshops throughout Australia and New Zealand and as an invited guest to Malaysia, Indonesia and China and most recent international collaboration with the MPROvE academy. Trish developed the Learning from Excellence program “You’re Awesome Baby!” as a way of capturing positive peer feedback in the NICU, showing gratitude to one another, and learning from truly excellent practice.

He is a fetal and neonatal physiologist who has published >400 papers on fetal and neonatal lung development and how the lungs transform into a functional gas-exchange organ at birth. His current research interests include; (1) the cardiorespiratory transition at birth, focusing on lung aeration and the timing of umbilical cord clamping, and (2) improving non-invasive respiratory support for extremely preterm infants. He has pioneered the use of phase contrast X-ray imaging of the lungs to identify the primary mechanisms of airway liquid clearance after birth and has demonstrated the cardiovascular benefits of clamping the cord after lung aeration.

Dr. Aida’s significant contributions to medical literature are evidenced by her extensive publication record, including 33 first author or corresponding author publications, 16 abstracts & proceedings, and 7 chapters in books. Among her publications are studies related to maternal psychological wellbeing during the COVID pandemic due to movement restriction, one that sheds light on the acceptance of COVID-19 vaccination among pregnant women in Malaysia and another that explores the factors influencing vaccine hesitancy among pregnant women, particularly concerning childhood immunization. These studies underscore Dr. Aida Hani's commitment to addressing important public health issues surrounding maternal and child health, with a particular focus on vaccination acceptance and hesitancy in Malaysia.
In addition to her research contributions, Dr. Aida Hani Mohd Kalok serves as a Council Member of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM).

Dr. Azanna Ahmad Kamar is an Associate Professor and Consultant Neonatologist at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya (UM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A UM MBBS graduate herself, she received further training in paediatrics and neonatology at the Paediatric Institute of Hospital Kuala Lumpur and in Dublin, Eire. She is the present Head of the Department of Paediatrics. Her passion for paediatric bioethics led her to complete her certification in Paediatric Bioethics from Children’s Mercy Hospital, University of Missouri, Kansas City, USA in 2016. Besides teaching paediatrics and neonatology, she also teaches the Special Population course of the Masters of Health in Research Ethics (MOHRE) programme, with interests in neonatal end-of-life issues, the impact of medical innovations, technology dependence, shared decisions, and sociocultural influences in decision-making. She is also a keen advocate of quality improvement initiatives, research in infection control, innovative neonatal engineering, neonatal ventilation, neonatal transport, resource allocation, and infant nutrition.
She champions prematurity awareness by promoting awareness of complications related to preterm births. She is a past President of the Perinatal Society of Malaysia (Council 2016/2017); a member of the Malaysian Bioethics Community (MBC) and Clinical Ethics Malaysia (CEM); team member of the South East Asia Early Nutrition Academy (ENEA-SEA) e-learning infant nutrition platform under EU-Erasmus e-learning collaboration; the head of the Research and Publications committee of the Federation of Asia-Oceania Perinatal Societies (FAOPS); steering committee member of the Malaysian National Neonatal Registry (MNNR); scientific chairperson of the FAOPS 2022 congress; a champion of the Malaysian Prematurity Awareness Programme; a past Organising/ Scientific Chair of the Kuala Lumpur International Neonatology Conference (KLINC) and is a member of the Lancet Child Health Commission on the Future of Neonatology advising group.

Dr. Gan Chin Seng is a consultant paediatrician, paediatric intensivist, and professor at the Department of Paediatrics, University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), affiliated to the University of Malaya (UM) in Kuala Lumpur. Since joining the University of Malaya in 2007, Dr. Gan has been dedicated to paediatric intensive care, specializing in both medical and surgical conditions. His expertise spans general paediatrics, paediatric and neonatal critical care, advanced paediatric resuscitation and organ stabilization, as well as invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
Dr. Gan's pursuit of excellence led him to complete a two-year clinical fellowship in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Birmingham Children's Hospital in the UK from 2012 to 2014, further enhancing his skills and knowledge in the field. He has actively contributed to the advancement of paediatric critical care in Malaysia and beyond, serving as the vice president of the Paediatric Chapter of the Malaysian Society of Intensive Care (MSIC) since 2023.
Moreover, Dr. Gan is a dedicated member of the Pediatric Acute & Critical Care Medicine Asian Network (PACCMAN) since 2015, engaging in collaborative research efforts and knowledge exchange to improve paediatric intensive care practices across Asia.
As a national trainer of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Malaysian Paediatric Life Support (MPLS) courses, Dr. Gan plays a crucial role in educating healthcare professionals on lifesaving techniques and protocols.

Realizing the importance of mother’s breast milk especially to the critically ill newborn in NICU, she started to pioneer the establishment of a human milk bank at SASMEC @IIUM in 2019. With agreement on specific sharia-related criteria by Jawatankuasa Perundingan Hukum Syarak Negeri Pahang (Pahang State Islamic Council) under the Mufti of State Negeri Pahang, Halimatussaadia Mother’s Milk Centre or HMMC, was finally launched in July 2022. Following the inauguration of HMMC, The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Malaysia named Prof. Dato the Productivity Champion (2022) in recognition of this achievement. In 2023, the centre was awarded the first Sharia-Compliant Human Milk Bank in Malaysia by the Malaysia Book of Records.

Dr. Mahmood is a Professor of Planetary Health at Sunway University. A medical professional with more than two decades of experience managing health crises in disasters and conflict settings, her previous appointments include: Under Secretary General for Partnerships at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC); Chief of the World Humanitarian Summit secretariat at the United Nations; and Chief of the Humanitarian Response Branch at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
In 2020, she was appointed a Senior Fellow of the Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Centre to help reach the goal of making one billion people more resilient to climate change, migration, and human security challenges by 2030. She was also the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Malaysia on Public Health, a member of the Government of Malaysia’s Economic Action Council and Climate Action Council, and most notably the founder of MERCY Malaysia, a Southern-based international humanitarian organisation.
Dr. Mahmood has received numerous international and national awards including the ASEAN Award in 2019 and the Merdeka Award in 2015 for excellent contribution to community development in Malaysia and the region. Her international awards include the prestigious Isa Award for Services to Humanity in 2013 from the Kingdom of Bahrain, often referred to as the “Nobel peace prize equivalent in the Gulf”. For her contributions in disaster risk reduction, poverty alleviation and peace advocacy, Dr Mahmood was also awarded the Gandhi, King, Ikeda Award by Morehouse College USA (Martin Luther King Chapel) in 2006.

Dr. Nadzratulaiman obtained her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO) from the National University of Ireland in 2005, followed by a Master's degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (MObGyn) from the University of Malaya in 2013.
Her dedication to advancing women's health is evident through her involvement in various research initiatives and professional organizations. As the Group Leader of the Research Initiative Group (RIG) Women Wellness Research Group in 2016, Dr. Nadzratulaiman played a pivotal role in spearheading research efforts aimed at enhancing women's health and well-being. Additionally, she is a Lifetime Member of the Obstetrics & Gynaecologists Society of Malaysia (OGSM) and the Perinatal Society of Malaysia (PSM), reflecting her commitment to the advancement of obstetrics and gynaecology in the country.
Dr. Nadzratulaiman is also an active member of international organizations, including the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (ISUOG). Dr. Ngu embarked on his medical journey at the School of Medicine, University of Malaya, graduating in 1997. Subsequently, he pursued training in general paediatrics, earning the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2000. Dr. Ngu then joined the Ministry of Health’s Clinical Genetics Fellowship Programme at Hospital Kuala Lumpur in 2002, further honing his expertise. His training included a year-long stint at the Nijmegen Centre for Metabolic and Mitochondrial Disorders in the Netherlands in 2006.
Notably, Dr. Ngu serves as the medical advisor for the Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association, a vital support group for individuals with lysosomal disorders. His contributions extend beyond clinical practice into the realm of academia, with an impressive portfolio of 80 manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals focusing on genetics and inherited metabolic diseases.
Dr. Ngu's expertise has been sought after as an invited speaker at over 100 local and international events since 2003. Additionally, he has presented over 100 free papers, showcasing his dedication to advancing knowledge in his field. His contributions extend to serving as an invited reviewer for esteemed international journals.
Within Malaysia, Dr. Ngu plays a pivotal role as a member of the Malaysia Ministry of Health’s Clinical and Supportive Management of Rare Disease Working Committee. Furthermore, he spearheads numerous clinical studies as the principal investigator at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, contributing significantly to the advancement of medical knowledge and patient care in the field of genetics and inherited metabolic diseases.

As an educator, Dr. Noraihan is actively involved in various training programs and educational initiatives. She serves as a Kelantan state coordinator and instructor for the Neonatal Resuscitation Programme (NRP) and S.T.A.B..L.E. Program. She also leads and instructs the Kangaroo Mother Care Programme for both her hospital and the state of Kelantan. Additionally, she teaches a 20-hour lactation course. Her commitment to education extends to her role as an honorary lecturer for Lincoln's University College and Universiti Sains Malaysia where she imparts knowledge to medical students through clinical sessions, basic sciences teaching, as well as lectures for healthcare professionals in the state health services.
Dr. Noraihan's involvement in her department goes beyond clinical care and education. She has served as the coordinator for Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect Case (SCAN) at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (2013-2015) and coordinated key performance indicators for the paediatric department in 2015. She actively participates in audits related to morbidity and mortality, infectious control, and quality assurance within her department and state/district hospitals in Kelantan. Dr. Noraihan has also contributed to organizing regional pediatric and neonatology updates and led various quality improvement projects within her department. Her research in this area includes a national survey on the implementation of Kangaroo Mother Care for premature infants in hospitals across Malaysia as well as a quality improvement initiative to improve weight gain and sustain the practice of KMC among premature infants in her Neonatal unit.
Beyond her professional engagements, Dr. Noraihan is a member of several medical societies and advocacy groups, including Kangaroo Mother Care Advocates Malaysia (KAMY) and the Perinatal Society of Malaysia. She has recently been appointed as the Vice President of KAMY Malaysia. She also volunteers her time for organizations like Society for Early Intervention and Education for Down Syndrome Kota Bharu. Notably, she co-produced an animated cartoon short movie titled "Aiman dan Asma," aimed at public asthma education. Dr. Noraihan's diverse interests also include outdoor activities like climbing Mount Kinabalu's Low's Peak, demonstrating her commitment to both professional and personal pursuits.

Amongst her numerous publications, the ones related to Kangaroo Mother Care were related to factors facilitating breastfeeding amongst mothers with infants of various gestational groups, knowledge and attitude of breastfeeding among paediatricians-in-training, and the effect of breastfeeding education on parents' knowledge and infants' weight gain.
